My son wants to get into FPV but I'm not letting him fly my 5in in the house 😁
The goggles 3 are on special here at the moment for $786 instead of $869, but I think the N3 will be more suitable for him. Good to know the O4 works with the N3.

Still happily using analog and testing out HDZero after a friend kitted me out for Christmas with the monitor and an eco vtx.
DJI seems like it's going away in the US soon so I s'pose I'm glad I never had enough $ to buy in.
Would be awesome to have one of those lil rippers but I assume shipping to the states is pretty out of the question 😅

I don't use DJI personally but I have seen a lot of people commenting on issue's they are having with durability and other teething problems. So for that reason alone I will stick with analog and Walksnail as my vtx choices.

I got one of those quads per your recommendation. It doesn’t arm, and the vtx doesn’t listen to any of the commands it’s given over smart audio to change channels or power. A huge disappointment after waiting for it to show up for 5 weeks. I’m emailing them again about it now that Chinese new year has passed. I was hoping to put my o4 lite in it after seeing the glowing reviews but it’s been nothing but a disappointment so far. They also changed the motors out for lower kv ones since a lot of the reviews I saw.
O4 wise I have been disappointed that the lowest latency is on the heavier unit given I was hoping it would be a better competitor for hdzero. Especially since it’s the same chip, just let us remove the under clock and take on the risk of it overheating, even if it voids the warranty. It looks amazing though and blows o3 out of the water in low light conditions.
If I win this little dude, I’ll definitely throw the o4 lite on it! I want to stick one on an indoor whoop too but idk what one yet and I feel this size is prefect for the lite unit. This drone in particular too since they use an external analog vtx, so it wouldn’t gain 10g in swapping it over to digital.

Dude this type of toothpick quad are awesome! I own a draknight from Hglrc which is really similar to this quad. Just upgraded to walksnail 1s and somehow it fly better(no idea why). The upgrade was a nightmare as the space are tight. Agree what Stewart said camera mounting is problematic. Also designed a prop guard for neighborhoods friendly hahaha. Awesome man!

I m starting out on analog (got me a axisflying manta5 se) and I m not really interested in digital right now as I m a sucker for all analog and retro stuff. I also work on a 5inch 3d printed drone which of course is also going to be analog. While I would call myself lucky to be the proud new owner of your drone, I m happy to sit this one out. Reason beeing I m more into 5inch drone's...

Hey Stew, personally I would love to own DJI. But with the price of the 04 goggles and at the time, the cheapest 04 unit was over two hundred, I could only use the walksnail module and my skyzone 03O, until I can save up, I'm very happy Flying walksnail and skyzone

I have been looking into getting started with FPV flying, already bought my radio (Jumper T15) and have been getting some hours in a simulator.
Ever since watching your video recommending the Lighting V2 I've wanted to buy it as my first drone!
Getting started with analog is definitely my plan to get into the hobby so being able to kick it off with this drone would be amazing!

Just bought into Walksnail with analogue module, so no DJI for me.
Seen a couple reviews talking about voltage sag and brownouts at as high as 3.5-7v which is crazy worrying for 1S.
on the other hand i've had a lightning 2 in my cart for about 2 months waiting on funds... so throwing my name in for that for sure :D

There's a small converter that you can prints out to mount it to any standard camera mount there out there and works great for mine in a mobile 8 it's ok

Dead keen on this. Looking for a lil ripper for some small park whooping. Im analogue (just starting out) and digital DJI. And Im very interested in the DJI lite. I had a look online for a possible solution to the mount issue. Not sure this will work but might.

I built myself a tinywhoop a few months ago for as cheap as I could get it, it flies really good but I’m saving up for something more powerful. Would it be more economical to build the lightning out or should I just buy it? Thanks! 😁

I have been flying a 5" for a year now with the O3 and have been thinking of getting the O4 lite, but at the same time I've found myself leaning more towards smaller crafts for versatility of flying in smaller areas. This little lightning V2 would be a great craft for me!

I can see an O4 Lite in my future. My planned entry to DJI digital is going to be via the Neo combo with the N3 goggles. Just need to wrangle the finances for that first step.

I’m excited by it. As a newbie, I’ve been flying on sims and researching like mad the last 6 months, learning all I can. I finally pulled the trigger on a meteor75 pro o4 with goggles N3 last week. The plan is to have fun in the house and back yard with the 1s before picking up something a little more powerful, but still small; something like a lightning v2 actually ;), to rip around outdoors.

My O4 has jello as hell although proper TPU camera mount ant PWM at 48khz. Raw footage is clean but gyro data is messed up and not usable.

I started flying FPV relatively recently, flying analog, but I have to say the new DJI stuff is very tempting, but it's a bit out of my budget. The video quality for the size of the O4 is incredible, but I am currently more than happy with analog.
The lightning looks mighty fun, and I would love to expand my arsenal to fly outside with my mate, who has much more equipment and skill than me :D.

I use DJIFPV for 3.5" upwards, but due nothing available back then went to HDZ for micros. Would love to try the O4 "Lite" out.

I had a 4 or 5 year break from fpv and noticed HD was a thing so got back into it. I went the walksnail route which was awesome but the goggle L’s just didn’t sit right on my face I was looking to upgrade to the Xs but luckily they were out of stock.
Then dji released the 04 series I knew I had to have it so not being heavily invested yet I bought the 04 lite and pro also the goggles 3 which I love only issues with the small amount of testing that I have had was the recording to onboard dvr on the lite and the files I did record were very wobbly. But I’m sure that’s got something to do with the gremlins in my 75mm 2s whoop.
The 04 pro is stunning absolutely love it. But sill onboard recording issues that I will need to problem solve.

Got into FPV properly as a walksnail pilot (my first quad technically was a RTF beginner analogue kit) when the goggles L dropped and so far have been loving my moonlight on my freestyle quad, gt pro on my long range and the 1s on my whoop is fine, however the O4 (pro and lite) alongside the goggles N3 have made me wonder if I made the right choice. Hoping walksnail claps back soon with some answers, especially on the smaller-quad end (I think the moonlight is still pretty fantastic and compeitive with the O4 pro, a lower latency mode would be the only thing I could ask for)

Hello, I am a walksnail user, but I am happy that also my friend who is DJI user will have possibility to put some lighter VTX into his whoop. Now I am forced fly my analog whoop with him, cause my digital is interfering with his analog :D However still think that is the DJI o4 lite v0.91 and they need to improve a lot of things.
Look the walksnail the 1S still fragile aswell.

I recently got back into the hobby and went with the Flywoo Flytimes 85 with the DJI O4 Lite and N3 goggles.
I managed to smash the quad on the third flight, but so far the O4 Lite system still functions well. (The camera plug luckily didn’t snap off which is a weak point highlighted by other users online)
I’m just waiting on a replacement drone frame and propeller guard.
I’m impressed with the range and vide quality of the O4 Lite with regards to its size and weight.
Overall quite impressed with the O4 Lite.

I built a 75mm with the new BetaFPV board and the O4 lite. I love it. Flies great on 1s. Albert Kim posted a tip about a glue he uses to secure the cable, which I did, so it is very secure. I also picked up the BetaFPV canopy built for the O4 so mounting was not a problem. As good as the O4 pro picture is, and it's very good, the lite is the big innovation here.

I'm cruising around with WS and I am super happy (I never used dji so can't compare it.)
Running the WS HD Pro gives me the opportunity to fly in twilight as well. Up here in the north days are pretty short this time of the year so at least I can go out and fly 🤘

I'm happy flying with walksnail. So far I have been just using the 1s vtx and putting that on all my builds up to 5inch. I have a pro cam and vtx ready to go on a 7inch next. I have the Avatar V1 goggles.

I really want a lightening v2, every time I have the extra funds they’re sold out and I’m too impatient to save for one lol. I’m kind of hesitant about the 04 lite because of it being so new and already having durability issues. In my house that’ll be a problem, because I’m trying to get better and learn new tricks all the time so it’ll definitely get crashed a lot.

I have never been able to try the 04 or any Dji system and don’t really feel a need since I’m quite content with analog. I love the feel and look of analog, but maybe trying anything better would ruin it for me, haha. Recently, I flew at my first bando, and when I went to land my drone, it fell into a well-disguised hole in the ground. It would not stop falling. The video is quite funny, but I was not very amused. I would love to try one of these out; the drone sim just isn’t as fun as flying outside, which I miss. It's also great that it’s analog!

I'm really excited to join this giveaway. I currently fly the DJI Avata 1 and love its induration, it's truly impressive! Just got my hands on a Pavo FEMTO with the O4 light, and I can’t wait to test it out when it arrives. I'm also considering whether to go for a 3.5” or a 5” next, but I’m still on the fence.

I personally like the smaller drones aswell. I have 1 dji 03 air unit in one of my cinawhoops. It is super nice paired with my dji goggles v2. I almost ordered one of the dji 04 lites to install in one of my 3in builds but after watching one of Bardwells videos I found out that the v2 goggles aren't supported at this time. Which means now I have to save up for the goggles 3 or n3 in order to fly the 04 airs. Which blows peanut's. Hopefully there will be an update where I can use the v2 goggles soon.

I just started out with FPV, since now I am 16 and finaly am allowed to fly in my country legaly. I'm training in TripFPV and Liftoff now for 3,5 Jears and am so happy to finaly fly. As my first drone I purchesed a Pavo Femto (with DJI o4 lite) on the day it was released. On Monday it arrived (over a month after purchese) and I spent 8 Hours untill I got it to work properly (I bricked my ESC and that kind a shitt). Sadly as I tested it I came to the conclution, that it wasn't able to freestyle that well, for which I trained a lot. So now I am hoping to raise a bit of money for a YMZlightning v2, so I can push it like I want.

I just took the plunge into digital, decided to go the walksnail route tho. Between how inexpensive the goggles L where comparatively and also the fact that dji makes you register everything made it a pretty solid choice for me.
That lighting looks like the perfect little park ripper, I can't wait to get one for myself.

I only fly analog at the moment because i Kinda like the old style feel. iam born in the late 80s så i grev upp with old tv's and Kinda liked it. Havent been able to try digital yet because of pricing being so high until now, but seams really nice with digital. And thanks for the awesome work you do 🙏😁

The O4 Air Unit is definitely a step forward in image quality and range, but I see a lot of mixed opinions on the mounting. The new latency performance is impressive, but the camera size makes it tricky to fit in some frames. Personally, I’m still rocking analog and O3 for now, but I’d love to give O4 a try and see how it compares in real-world flying.
Also, that YMZ Lightning V2 sounds like a solid frame! Props to you for doing a giveaway—would be an awesome setup. 🚀

Honestly, I think I will have to get int oDJI ecosystem as my starting point, even if you say it's not perfect (durable). The image quality and penetration are unmatched. And I can't do Analog as I also wanna record decent videos of my flights.
So to me it's DJI. At least for now. Still brewing on this, but I did buy a used DJI FPV Remote controller already as I thought I'd need it even if I use an air unit.. But that's fine. Maybe my first drone will be a DJI Neo with the bundle to save a bit.

I put an 04 air on a Mobula 8 for testing. Range and penatration far superior to the old caddax or dji air units. Been building and flying quads since 2012 they have come a long way. Still fly the bigger quads but recently have been flying under 250g. Would love to ring out a YMZ Lightning V2.

Hey thank you for all the great content. New quad pilot here. Appreciate all your videos. They have been a huge help in navigating the FPV landscape. I started out with analog first for my quads, and then Caddx as my first digital system, though I haven't built my first digital rig quite yet. Though DJI seems to look great, I am turned off by the enormous company size and what I have read as terrible customer service. I prefer to support small businesses like yours. One of my dream drones! I just got into fpv because of you. Just started watching you too. I purchased the radio master pocket and the beta fpv air65. I ran out of money for goggles but I’m going to save up to get fat shark echo. I bought the beta fpv so I can practice indoors but as soon as I get good at it and have enough I want to get the lightning v2. I just love the idea of tiny drones. I’m 15 and don’t have a job, I’m trying to get one but school gets busy and I think it would be nice to be able to fly fpv drones to get away from the stress.

I got the cectus kit, honestly disappointed me, upgraded the goggles and remote but the drone is just not that powerfull and i thought that it would fly great outside as my house is small, so i kinda stoped flying as i dont have spare money to buy a drone that would fit my flying space :/, so thought why not try my luck :D, good luck everyone!

I think you're right about the camera mount! Why can't DJI see what is standard and simply make one? Simple right! Not much different than what they gave us but just adjust the dimensions a little. Easy.

I'm a long time FPV guy. I still rock my DJI v1 and several vistas. I love these goggles.
I also have an HDZ pair. My analog died and they had a good price at launch.
For flying iny garden, HDZ is the bomb. I don't need anything else. But as soon as I get into 3+ inch, than a better view is very welcomed. I mean for wings, 5 inches and other fast birds, the view is so critical
So the 04 lite? I'm soooo tempted. I might wait a little, till the summer. Maybe they'll come with better lenses? Also I'd need a new pair of goggles. I'm not sure about the N3. Some reviews complain about the refresh rate and some smearing. That may be a youth issue though. So yes wait and see.
Finally my preferred size is 2.5". This is where one can easily get a 10 to 1 power ratio, an hd transmission, and be quiet enough for your neighbors to not care. So 04 will go in sich a frame.

This looks like an awesome quad Stew. Just recently got into FPV with a Talon analog and looking for a good little quad to fang around. Also maybe thinking of upgrading to digital via Neo/N3 bundle(for the kids to play of course) at tax time.

I bought into walksnail (from analog) with the goggles X last year. Whilst i have loved them and had no problems (other than relatively poor RF performance out of the box due to rubbish antennas, fixed with some true rc ones). I do feel like i might be missing out with this new o4 system now. This wasnt the case with o3 at all, but the picture quality on o4 is mental. Hardly any compression whatsoever flying in open spaces. It looks like it locks to 60mpbs and doesnt want to drop! Meanwhile on walksnail we run 720p and can hardly maintain 50mbps sometimes. But that being said, realistically its still very good and i enjoy it.
The reason i went WS over DJI was that WS has HDMI out from goggles and the 1s VTX. But with WS no longer having the 1s VTX advantage… makes me reconsider. Lets see if WS come up with anything to compete. I know they were talking about a new system last year that never actually came out… eh we’ll see i guess.

I use HD Zero, walksnail and analog. I use DJI at work so I have experience with all of the systems. DJI is nice but those goggles are hella uncomfortable compared to the others. I think it's interesting DJI finally made a small board for your smaller quads, but its probably still only good down to about 75 maybe? It would still be adding too much weight for a 65.
Picture is nice, but I too question the durability. Thing looks super fragile. Meanwhile HDZero made a AIO board with it already installed and it's rock solid for those smaller builds.
I think the thing that really pisses me off with DJI is a complete unwillingness to adhere to any standards we've set. We just went thru this with 03. The camera mounting was different from everything else we've used so far so we all had to adjust, whether we flew DJI or not. Now, they release 04 and here we go again. What, we couldn't use the previous mounting?
DJI just says "fuck you" to the entire community time and time again, but since we have so many people who are enamored with their tech it forces our hobby to continue to bow, scrape and chase DJI, all while they white knight defend them. It's just so tiring and frustrating.

I am foooking hating dji right now.
I have my googles and 04 lite bound. But cant get the 04 to show up in the app to activate it.
I love small drones as well
Ive built back a geprc phantom 2.5 with the 04 lite. I pulled a naked vista out of it
I haven't tried the 04 units yet Im just working on them today

I got one of the o4 and really love it in the house on my Pavo pico. I bought a tpu hood and camera mount from rotor riot that seems to protect the camera really well. I’ve smashed it quite a bit already

I haven't gone digital yet. I just got some land that I think this little drone would be fun to fly on. The image quality looks pretty amazing on this size of a drone. Does seem to have some issues but could be promising for the future.

Im waiting for my Meteor75 pro, excited much and wanting to learn to fly FPV. Only issue it will be flown inside the house for a few weeks until i get confident. Will learn along with my kids and have fun on it. Well the 04 lite is good, ateast pilots now will have a digital option other than the analog. thanks for having this website :)

DJI really pushed the limits with the O4 lite and it looks like they almost, but not completely, nailed it. You are right that it appears to be very fragile as Madstech has noted in his review as well. I'm not sure, at this point, if DJI plans to address that issue, but it seems like it's going to be an issue for them with warranty claims going into the future. I'm planning on putting one if these in my next 5 inch build, but getting one of the new Axisflying cases for it to protect it.

100% getting an o4 lite AND pro in the future. Still relatively new to FPV but im absolutely hooked. I got into FPV close to 10 years ago, but i couldnt stand the look of analog. Still cant stand it. I really wish i could, because i wouldve dove into it way back then, but with the recent updates with digital, it doesnt bother my eyes to fly it. Just a few hours in and I'm doing split s's, cubes, mattys, etc. I'm absolutely addicted to it now. My kids are both wanting to get into it as well and are constantly getting on Uncrashed and learning the controls.

Hello gooddayy i just watched the yt video and obviously i just had to click the link when i heard what you were saying about the giveaway because theres no way id be missing out on a free chance.
Also i was wondering if the O4 was able to be mounted on the lightning 2 as i:
1. dont have a lightning 2 just yet.
and
2. dont have an o4 system.
Matter of fact i dont even have any HD gear but i was looking into getting a G2 (+ HD AirUnit) since i heard they were compatible with all DJI Air Unit generations.
So far i've only been flying analog on my EV800D, which sadly dont fit my glasses which is a bummer but doesnt stop me from flying.
Also i was thinking of upgrading to the G2 + maybe the Vapor D5 O4 Pro to get some more exciting cinematic footage to properly expand on my fpv HD journey.
I only ever heard good stuff about DJI's air units and on my analog setup ive alwys been scared to fly behind my back or trees / walls in fear of loosing signal but i think with HD that should be even less of a problem + the higher resolution makes all the difference for me personally i think.
Wasnt able to test it so far but looking forward.
Also i just started with FPV, been watching vids for over 4 years now and i bought the Tyro99 in 2021 after watching your build series on it but i had some trouble with the VTX since it wasnt the one all others seemed to have gotten and so i just left it laying around until 3 weeks ago when i finally decided to finish it up.
Got it flying now with about 25 packs total and slowly starting to get the feel for it flying low and slow since fast and up high is easy but my stick movements are still a bit robotic. 😅
Anyways thx for the review on mounting the O4 on the Lightning 2, i think i might have to add that to my list of things i need to get just after the G2 or Integra or maybe even G3 but that would limit options to lower budget air unit builds i fear.
I will definitely be getting some HD gear to get some experience of my own!

hey I saw your YouTube video about the o4 lite and shameful to say but I'm here hoping to win the FPV drone since I really would like to get into FPV flying but I would have to get the goggles and controller too so it would be too expensive for me. I am a new follower for the past month now as I’m new to the FPV world and I have been so deeply searching for a specific drone body design and that Lightning V2 matches the style I’m going for. Im currently trying to make a crazy cool Cyberpunk themed movie in which my protagonist has an AI drone companion to follow in his vigilante adventures. And so his fashion, and all of his belongings like his electric motorcycle and whatnot all follow the same theme of DIY industrial and militaristic features also displaying a lot of exposed wiring.

Had a Zorro for the longest time playing around in the Sim. Got a Neo with N3 for easy drones with the family and looking to branchout into the 04 space. Looks like lots of fun and definitely the generation to start in.

This drone would be the perfect drone to fly when I cant fly my 5". My hope is to one day pop an O4 on there and get digital. Soon I will be upgrading to digital with the O4, been saving up for a couple months doing chores, selling stuff, etc... I ordered a o4 air unit and am still waiting for delivery. I have a DJI Goggles 3 that I got with my Avata 2 and was wondering if I could get the same resolution out of something small enough for a tiny whoop. I have an older Mobula 6 but the resolution on it isn't very good and so I was wanting something small that would work with my Goggles 3. I was planning on building an 85mm whoop drone and using the o4 air unit. If it's too big for that, I could always stick it on one of my old airplanes.

DJI is our big brother overlord. No thanks. Every digital system today is amazing compared to the early analogue stuff. DJI require an email address tied to a phone number to use the product that you bought. That means you don't own it, DJI just lets you use it. If you don't register and download the software you cannot use it. If you are among the 5% or so out there using an opensource operating systems you can't use the product you bought because dJI only supports Windows(spyware) and Apple. OPENIPC is coming along nicely. It will be the standard just like ELRS. Until then, stick to walksnail or HDzero.

I was looking into buying the YMZFPV Lightning 2 today, so this post is a match made in heaven! It looks like a blast to fly around with and it will work perfectly with my analog goggles and Radiomaster pocket. I am a new-ish pilot and I am a huge fan of your videos and live streams. I Can't wait to catch you on your next stream :) About the DJI 04 Air units, they are making me consider switching to digital. I dislike the anti-consumer nature of DJI but I do own one of their camera drones. The 04 lite is especially appealing to me because micros are my favorite. I have a DJI o3 from Work on a 5 incher but the rest is all analog for me. I'm way more into micros and thats just analog for me. I don't think digital is there yet where you can get an awesome digital image at no cost in flyability.

LIttle late to the party, but I have probably an unpopular opinion. One of the greatest parts of analog (for me) is the price point. Sure, the 04 isn't rocking the boat as far as competitive pricing, but when you lower the entry price on one part of of HD without making the rest of it as accessible (WTG HDZero box goggles!), it just isn't a plus to us legacy pilots.

I'm going to stick with Walksnail. I'm getting a little FOMO on the range and quality of O4, but jumping from analog to WS was already such a revelation. I just can't shake this feeling of not trusting DJI and also not paying $400CAD per aircraft. That Lightning is definitely sitting in my cart right now. Right after the Swordfish is done.

I am just getting into FPV and bought used DJI goggles with an analogue rapid-fire module, antennas, and radio master controller. I am still looking for my first drone, but I feel comfortable in the simulator. can't fly o4 with my current setup but I think I will have a lot of fun before I feel that I need the latest o4.

I have an 04 air unit that came in the Femto, im pretty new to HD so to me I think its awesome. I may not be as picky as some of the reviewers but I also haven't really tried anything better, so who knows.
