Replied to comment on a troubleshoot question Landing Voltage for 2s Li Ion

LiIon cells typically can go much lower than Lipos/3.5V

Check the specs for the specific LiIon cells youre using, they usually are rated up until 2.8V or 2.5V or similar, then for 2S just double (5V or 5.6V respectively)

Ended up getting it repaired under warranty (full board swap), I guess just a bad board

I tried reflashing the escs, lowering the esc pwm frequency, and resetting all the betaflight settings using the betafpv dump but no luck. Ive got it flying by using default pids but it feels odd that the betafpv tune is so busted

Mob6 HDZero AIO5 "overheating" at low temperatures

I have a new HDZero mob 6 with the AIO5 board and when the quad core temp hits about 60 degrees I completely lose video. VTX temps are still in the light blue in the indicator (second lowest level). I know its temp related because if I hit it with a fan for a few seconds the video will come back, but from a completely cold start I get like 15 seconds of video before it overheats.

I know this is atypical because I've seen youtube videos of people flying around fine both indoors and outdoors with core temps in the high 60s to 70s, vtx temps in the yellow to red and it stays on fine. Mine I can barely even take off before it overheats, sometimes there's not even enough time to calibrate so I can arm. All of this is at 25mW power too.

Anyone got any ideas on what I can do to fix this? Or is it just a busted board?

I love my DJI action 2, the picture quality is phenomenal while its also light and sturdy. Im able to find them second hand on facebook marketplace for $200 AUD or less fairly frequently so im sure you'd be able to find a second hand one for < 200 USD/Euros easily too

What this setting does is return your craft to level after a crash is detected by the FC when youre flying in acro. Pros of turning it on are, of course, the craft self recovers after a crash meaning you are potentially more likely to be able to fly away from a wall bump/minor collision that would otherwise send you tumbling. The cons (and why a lot of people, myself included, don't use it) are that you are not in control of the quad anymore while its recovering. Now this is only for a tiny fraction of a second and it generally happens faster than a human could even react, but giving up control at all is definitely a no go for some pilots. There is additionally the risk of false positives and the crash recovery triggering when youre doing some extra-spicy freestyle, since the FC is just using the onboard gyro and accelerometer data to detect a crash, but from what I understand if you leave the parameters at the defaults this is pretty uncommon.

Bardwell has a pretty good video on crash recovery including how to turn it on and tweak it, as well as flight footage of it in action thats worth watching before you make a decision

But the tldr is its personal preference really if you want it on, a whoop is definitely the best application for it since the prop guards/ducts usually mean youre just bouncing off of whatever you crash into anyway (no risk of props getting tangled up like in open prop quads) so there's not really much risk in just trying it and seeing if you like it

@bjowitt I just use the defaults. Just make sure stabilisation is turned off in the goggles. In the case of the GT, I've noticed that the lower resolution makes getting good results a bit tougher, its got less footage to work with if youre not also flying smooth 😅, but if youre recording on the moonlight in 4k gyroflow is like magic

Im pretty sure if you use eis in the camera you can't use gyroflow after the fact, try disabling the onboard eis.

Additionally, use the nightly version of gyroflow and it'll autodetect the lense profile and settings for the moonlight (technically the release version should do this too but I've noticed the nightly version is infinitely more consistent + there is a bug in the current release version where it misinteprets the gyro data from the moonlight causing incorrect stabilisation)

Asked a troubleshoot question Brand New Air65 motors stuttering/fluttering

Brand New Air65 motors stuttering/fluttering

Gday, purchased a brand new Air 65 race spec (the 2025 refresh with the 5 in 1 board) and out of the box im having an issue where the throttle power feels inconsistent and the motor are making a stuttering/fluttering sound when power is applied. The quad tends to fly very inconsistently, usually shooting up quickly or at an angle, and occasionally I get motor runaway errors in the goggles. Its not flyable in its current state

Everything looks like its connected ok, I haven't touched pids/rates at all in betaflight (literally just took it out of the box and stuck a battery on), and there's no noticeable damage to the frame/props (brand new quad)

I found this thread on reddit that said potentially overtightened canopy screws might cause this, so I tried backing off the canopy screws, but that hasn't helped either

Props are all on in the right orientation, motor directions are correct, the motors sound fine when I spin them in betaflight, its just when I try fly the problem is present

Yeah i could 3d print a rear mount for the GPS I've just been lazy and sticking it on the back hasn't affected my ability to a) slap the battery on the top or b) acquire sats. I have the walksnail moonlight in mine so I've got 2 antennas sometimes running at 1.2W and it doesn't fuck with the sat acquisition at all

I use the m100 on my volador 3.5. Just used a bit of 3m to stick it to the back of the frame

Replied to comment on a troubleshoot question Walksnail Goggles L low transmit power options

Yeah damn hoping there was some way I could mess with the config options, like FCC unlock but for the lower end, but I guess not. Thanks for the reply

Walksnail Goggles L low transmit power options

Is there a way to get the goggles L (paired with the walksnail moonlight) to set the transmit power of the VTX to settings like 50mW, 100mW etc. At the moment my options go from 25mW straight to 200mW. Id like to have granular control at these lower output settings to more finely control the output power when flying with other pilot. Cant seem to find any info about this anywhere else online. Thanks!

The column on the right seems to be mostly low value content, potentially it could be dropped and the left column moved right to have the same 2-column layout we have now, and then the announcement tab could replace popular categories (which seems redundant when you already have the quick section links in the top left, perhaps that widget could live inside those sub-views). Also not sure the value of elevating the following so high, perhaps the groups widget could become a "social" widget and combine a following list with the groups content

@emiellr I use the goggles L and the VRX for my regular flying, and if the number on the OSD is to be believed, sub 30ms glass to glass isn't really gonna happen on walksnail anyway 😅. The goggles/VRX report 29-37ms latency on average (and then in the VRX's case I'm sure a few more ms going HDMI out of the VRX into the camera field monitor I use with it) from both my Moonlight and Avatar GT on the quad

Actually on further investigation, looks like you may be able to cut-out the laptop step if you use this HDMI Link beta functionality https://www.meta.com/en-gb/blog/hdmi-link-launch/?srsltid=AfmBOopMvj_1QpHa1hchqik95qxBxUkD80D7s5Tls3Ujfy4XUZ9qjgHS
