G Day. Stew here. For over a decade I have been helping people enjoy the sky through FPV and teaching FPV to hundreds of thousands of people. I started UAVFutures on Youtube to help others and now I am extremely proud to take that to the next level with DIYFPV. Happy flying everyone.

HI. I just tested this and it working on my end. One thing i noticed is that when i first plugged in the betafpv radio just now that it was flashing red... make sure that the button in the centre is slowly pulsing green like in this picture. I just flew mine with windows, and google chrome and the betafpv radio. (I'll attatch a picture)

maybe there is an option on the radio to switch it to sim mode? mine worked though as soon as I plugged it in twice.

It depends how serious you are at racing. If you are attending a race and really want to place then I recommend something a little more $$. BUT if you are just being a casual pilot then honestly I would just search for something that is in stock and well priced . https://www.diyfpv.com/catalog/category/electronics/stacks-and-combos We are lucky in Australia because we have some great local stores.

for my flying I would say 50 amps is fine. BUT if you are really pushing a racing quad for like 2 mins 100% throttle you should go higher. I have really liked the oddityrc esc stacks and I think they are a pretty good value option.

Is price a factor or do you just want the best of the best?

I checked out that tool. It does look cool but the real world use would probably be pretty low. On the back of a lot of prop packets they often have some sort of graph that shows power, thrust etc But it is all pretty insignificant data etc. a drone changes speeds and directions so often that there is no real efficiency band. This calculator also doesnt seem to show the drag etc which will make a massive difference, and how does that drag change as the angle of the drone increased as it rockets towards the horizon. how far apart are these props, what is the aerodynamics of the frame. these rest of the numbers are pretty meaningless unless you have this data to go with them. And if you do have that wind tunnel data... how much does this really change how you fly.

this calculator would be useful for things like trying to max speed run, or longest flight time but for most pilots is could be a number trap. like trying to change some tiny pid settings to improve a lap time when the best thing you could do is instead just get a few more packs in and practice flying.

I dont know. Would you use it often? We want to build amazing things for the community but we only have x amount of resources and need to focus on specific things.

PS your parts in the builder are AAAwesome

like a frame. are you happy to solder? do you have a FC and all the other parts ready or are you doing a complete 3 inch build?

just use something like this. https://www.diyfpv.com/catalog/betafpv-c04-camera-and-vtx-module

you will still need to get some cheap analog goggles but it will work.

i would just go to the local hardware shop and buy some. it shouldnt be too much details. think of it like buying aa batteries from the shops for your tv remote. yes some are better than others. but if you are just starting you will be fine with any 18650s

for a normal fpv drone. like one i would just fly with my friends in the park... it makes zero difference.

maybe if you were some ultra racer or building a specail drone for a specific reason but just get what is cheapest.

is this when you first arm your drone. the motors spin at a minimum amount when you are armed.

can you fly one clean lap around our diyfpv sim? under 90 seconds on the timer? https://www.diyfpv.com/resources/fpv-drone-simulator
