Thanks! I was thinking a lot about such things in last few weeks. 😉 I didnt want to remove the OSD IC because I m flying analog and digital. USB just because ease of use instead of fiddly jst connector. etc.. overall I could make it cheaper in multiple ways but decided not to go the cheapest route..

Well if one increases the amount of FC's the parts needed can be sourced cheaper.. if you only order a few parts it costs more..  and some parts like e.g. the MCU.. in my case a stm32-F405 costs around 10 euro if you only order one

That's depends a lot on what features you choose.. e.g. copper thickness, which material the layers in-between the copper layers are made of, if it's colored pcb (e.g. red) etc.... i have chosen to have a 6 layer PCB which when done is blue, I also increased the outermost copper layers to 2 oz and ordered a stencil with it ( for soldering later) regular price would be around 85 euro for 5 PCBs but as a new customer you get coupons which brought it down to 50 Euro.. including shipment.. so quite a reasonable price for 5 PCBs.. the more expensive part is sourcing the components which were around 90 euro including shipping but I decided not to go with cheap Chinese knockoffs or sample books... Instead all but one component comes from mouser. The at7456e which handles osd informations was not available in Europe..

Current status for my FC project. All components and PCBs are ordered.. now its a waiting game.

Still undecided how I m going to solder the components onto the PCB. But most likely I m going to use a hot plate / heat gun combination..

If you know the owner of a field you like to fly I would ask the owner. So you can actually start/land on their property which makes life easier. I did this for 2 places I m flying at. Like I said most are chill. They fear that you destroy their fields. Which is justified if you crash and need to go searching in the middle of their field. So if you can convince them that you are careful then they most likely wont have any issues with even starting/landing on the edge of their properties. Have fun flying 🚀

I m from Austria. You are allowed to fly over every farmers field without asking as the air above it doesn't belong to them. But you are not allowed to start or land your drone on those fields without permission of the owner. So if e.g. the road leading to the field is owned by the public than you can start/land it there without additional permission. But most farmers are chill.

They are for flashing the am32 bootloader onto the mcu's. I will change the footprint to make them smaller as they are still a bit to big.

Next step will be a fun one... routing all the components. this is also the stage where i definitely will see if i get some issues and need to place something differently.

@AurilFPV I will be ordering the pcbs from jlcpcb. So I only need to solder the components later on. In both cases I m using a 6 layer design which I wouldn't be able to do myself. I could also tell them to populate the board with the components but I would like to do that myself.

I most likely will try to utilize a stencil to apply solder paste and then use a hotplate/heat gun after placing the components to solder everything on it.
