DRONE BUILDER 1.0 IS OFFICIALLY LIVE + huge DIYFPV updates
G day. I’m excited to announce the DIYFPV drone builder studio is officially live.
This interactive build studio lets you import your favourite FPV parts and create a virtual build. Looking back at our builder proof of concept vs what we have today fills me with such pride and hope for our hobby. (you can see the old concepts attatched to this post)
Features
- Import your parts into the build studio with 1-1 recreations from the community
-Alerts if there are any shorts or incorrect connections with your build
-Wiring assistant mode so you can see recommended ways to wire something up
-Learn mode - select any pad or pin. Learn its function, how it works and why it is important to your fpv build
-Share it with your friends, get feedback. Updates in real time
We also released a community build feature or as I like to call it the “build builder”. This is for people who want to not only create a wiring schematic of their build but also use it in a build guide. It will auto populate your components from your build, show the wiring schematic of how they go together and prompt you a few bits so making a full build guide is easier than ever.
New feature- the Part library is now available to all users. This is an easy way to inspect a part, check pinouts and mappings. Great for when you want to quickly check some technical aspects of a part you are about to build with. This started as an internal dev tool we were using to check components but it was so useful it is now open to all.
Stack and Multiboard support
The part builder now supports creating parts with multiple boards/stacks. Select add a new board when building your part and then just follow the normal build process. This means that when you import these parts into your drone builds in the studio it will automatically import both boards at once.

The thing we need help with now is people continuing to make parts in the part builder or it would be amazing to see some people publishing some build guides for others to learn from. If you have a build you love to fly, please do a write up and build guide for it here on diyfpv.

Wow my friend, this is exactly the kind of flight I live for! You've got nerves of steel flying that close to the trees and the river. And what a stunning landscape, so different from what we've got over here. On top of that, those flips are seriously impressive. What drone are you running again? Bravo, I'm honestly jealous!
This weekend I'll be doing my own version of this in my corner of the world. That's what I love about our hobby and about this whole community: it lets us discover places that are so wildly different from one another.

My beautiful wife and I found a kool spot along side of the dirt road we were driving on. The spot looked so good, we decided to have our picnic there. A small meadow of sorts, lots of trees and open space with two sections of an old broken wooden fence along its border. We set up to eat beside the two old sections of wooden fence, ate our lunch and enjoyed the surroundings. After lunch, I set up my quad and burned a couple of packs. Sometimes we find that spot that just screams FULL SEND, “fly me”! Trail Head is one of those spots! Located at the base of a mountain, Trail Head looks like a green ski run. Rippin down the hill feels like a downhill run at the Olympics! When I was young, I blew out every joint in my body, living hard, playing hard. Enjoyed every minute! No one to blame but myself! Home on the long range, where the Antelope are as mean as hell and will attack your quad in a heart beat. Antelope are usually extremely skittish, really hard to sneak up on. Very hard to get any pictures of them, they are always on the run. But not this time - FAFO. I found out alright, that when a mamma and poppa Antelope have three calves with them, not so skittish. They saw my long range quad coming, and attacked it head on, well the mamma did anyway. She wasn’t having any of it. Needless to say, her desire to kill my quad, allowed me to get some great shots to share with you.
It was a nice calm morning, no air turbulence, so I was able fly smooth, without stabilization. I don’t like using stabilization, because the program crops at least 30% of the picture, loosing a lot of the wide angle view. Anyway, here it is. Enjoy! Finally found the time to fly some long range FPV. Drove out to a place called german gulch. And, of course, I picked the windiest day to do it! It was gusting so hard at times, I thought it was going to blow my quad right off of the mountain. All and all, I got some great shots. Needless to say, I had to stabilize my footage to make the flight work! There is a little glitch in the editing towards the end of the flight, it’s not a stabilization problem, it’s an editing problem. I couldn’t get the files to sync up properly. Just up the road from “tirefields forever” is a place I call “mosaic”. It’s a large open area with two large fields to fly in. I can also position my takeoff point where I can reach multiple long range areas that are over 1 ½ miles out as well.
The reason I call this place “mosaic” is because the rock formations resemble mosaic tiles and patterns. Check it out! It’s a great place for a roadside rip! Lots of trees, open space, gaps galore. And, we all know, “it’s all about the gap”, right?
Windy today, still fighting spring snow showers combined with rain. One might ask, why I fly in weather like this? The only answer I have is; “Because I gotta”! Why do I call this place “tirefields forever”? Well, for some reason, and I don’t know why, a lot of people like rolling their old tires down this hill. There are old tires everywhere, thus the name “tirefields forever”! I put the word “forever” in there, because “tirefields” reminds me of a Beatles song called “Strawberry Fields Forever”. I don’t know why that song comes to mind, but it does. Too much cannabis? Maybe! Don’t fly without it! Anyway, their you have it!
The weather is warmer, snow is melting, wind is blowing, three packs to burn, had to get out of the house and fly a few packs today. This place is wide open, full send mandatory, trees, rocks and meadows. An old rippers dream come true. It’s a great place to practice my “open space relaxed freestyle”. Enjoy! It has been snowing here for the past 3 weeks now, and I still haven’t been able to do any flying. The weather forecast, is 3 more days of snow. Bummer, I like to fly everyday! Lately, I have been getting all of my stick time on the Sim! Not the same as real life, but a man has got to do, what a man has got to do, right? Anyway, I uploaded a video from December, 2024 to share with you while waiting for the weather to change. It’s located at the cite of an old silver mine called the “Bluebird” it’s another open space area I like to fly, it has trees, roads and a lot of gaps. We luv those gaps, don’t we?
