My wife and I were out walking for Museum Day and stopped by the Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve. I decided to stop and fly a pack while it wasn't crowded. I really loved flying this park - it's such an incredibly beautiful space.

This is the first of two related videos. In this first video I'm Exploring Guerro Thompson Elementary School in Austin, TX with Vexer to get a lay of the land. In my next video, we'll explore from a completely different perspective with Cyclops (an FPV Speck-B Brushless 1/24 RC car).
Personal trivia: When I was growing up my mom played this album, "Free To Be You And Me," for me frequently. I've always loved it.

We're back flying with ATX FPV crew for the August 2026 Meetup. This one was a little special. Rail brought out a couple FPV RC cars. You see several of us chasing one of them at about 97 second mark. I'm so glad I got to chase Rail's car and seeing the other quads doing the same was just a blast.

I've been participating in some of the Central Texas Drone Racing whoop races. The first few laps I'm sharing are at Celis Brewery, a brewpub in North Austin.
I'm slow and I need a an absolute ton more experience and stick time, but I'm having fun with it. It's always great to see the other pilots and I get to watch some truly inspirational flying.
The final lap I share is from a race at Cabana Club in East Austin. I found the track at Cabana Club a lot more challenging, but I managed to find one lap that was worth sharing.

This is the third flight of Okami, the latest addition to my fleet. Okami, a SpeedyBee Mario Mini 25 with O4 Pro, is an open prop freestyle quad with 2.5" props. And wow she is a blast to fly and handles really well.
I look forward to many more flights with Okami. I could easily see her becoming my favorite quad.

We had a rainy Saturday in Austin, which would generally mean I'm not flying... But instead, I spent the rainy afternoon whopping the warehouse with several of the ATXFPV folk. Kudos to Tarz for helping setup a defined track and lighted gates. Even at my slow pace, it was a lot of fun flying the course, and I found it inspirational watching people who can fly the course quickly.
I thought this was a great way to spend a rainy day. Working on skills and chatting with like-minded friends, old and new.

I was planning to meet up with a few folks from the ATXFPV group to fly at a new park in South Austin. Unfortunately, the wind didn't agree with our plans. Happily, one of the group invited us to fly in a warehouse where he works.
I'm so glad I took him up on the offer. Five of us spent the afternoon flying pack after pack, crash after crash. I haven't done a a lot of indoor flying, so I really wasn't sure how it would go, but I had an absolute blast.
We all had plenty of crashes, sometimes in interesting and awkward places - I think everybody got trapped in the cube gate at least once. But I think we all had an amazing time, it was great throttle practice, and I think we'd all happily spend many afternoons flying here.
