RotorForge v0.43.0 — a FreeCAD workbench for designing FPV frames

Hey everyone,

I’d like to share something I’ve been working on: RotorForge, a FreeCAD workbench for designing custom FPV drone frames.

The idea is to bring the main frame dimensions and mounting options into one editor. You can adjust your design, preview the layout, generate an editable 3D model, and export DXF/SVG cutting profiles.

The current version includes:

True X, Stretched X and Deadcat layouts

Two-plate and three-plate designs

Adjustable arms, arm roots, mounting bolts and motor-pad shapes

Three-hole and four-hole motor mounting patterns, with independent hole rotation

Camera mounting with adjustable tilt, plus stack, standoff and VTX mounting options

Battery strap slots, airflow openings and plate outline cutouts

Settings saved as JSON so designs can be shared and edited later

The latest update adds mirrored motor-pad rotation, with a choice of rotating around the motor centre or the beginning of the pad. The arm connection follows the rotated pad to keep the geometry connected.

It’s still being developed, and I’d appreciate feedback from people who design or build their own frames. Bugs, awkward controls, missing options, or practical issues you spot in the generated designs would all be useful.

Why does it seem like my signal to my goggles 3 has been giving me the yellow bar when I'm not even that far away? Doesn't do this all the time but does seem like more than it should... any ideas?

In the last couple of days I played around with an idea to help speed up drone designing in Freecad. So here is a workbench/plugin which lets you design drone frames quite fast. Of course it should only be a starting point but it will create quite complete drone frames (no TPU parts).

Its still a work in progress as I m not happy how the arm locking works right now.

The plugin folder contains a text file explaining how to install it. A manual is also included which can be opened from inside the workbench in Freecad. Minimum requirement is Freecad version 1.0 and above.

You are welcome to test it and please leave some feedback.

I got DIYFPV as an app, and I’ll show you how to do it!

First, you want to take a picture of the icon. Second, open a browser of your choice and go to DIYFPV. Then, copy the URL.

Next, go to the Shortcuts app. You might have to download it if you don’t already have it. Tap the + button, then search for Show Web View. Click on it, and it should pop up. You’ll see a URL field, so copy and paste the URL into it.

Then, go to the top, where it says something like “show wed view” and rename it to DIYFPV.

Finally, tap Add to Home Screen, choose Choose Photo, and select the picture of the DIYFPV logo. Now you’re all set!

Hello everybody, my mother just passed and I’m cleaning out her apartment and the manager is throwing me out of here at 7 o’clock in the morning in about 2 1/2 hours. I was wondering if anybody knew of a safe place to park and sleep in a U-Haul or a very, very, very cheap motel 50 6070 at the most also if anybody would like to make a few bucks and those near the Santa Monica area I need to help to load the U-Haul anyways sorry for the inconvenience. Hopefully, I can get back to whooping in a little while by y’all I can get back to whooping in a little bit.

I've got three fly spots so far. I try and cycle through them for different types of practice. This spot is a very popular river park so I try to go early and just keep to myself. I didn’t hear or see anyone mention yesterday that it was World Mental Health Day. Since Stu talks about it often, it’s an issue that matters to him, and we haven’t seen him around here in a little while, I’d like to invite everyone to send him some good energy and give back a bit of what he gives all of us as a community.

Botgrinder with some sage words. Personally, gorilla whooping is right in the middle of where I draw the line (I think thats part of the point of it). At the same time, my feed keeps getting people diving 5" towards randoms on sidewalks in cities and that literally kills people in combat. 2 more videos of it just yesterday.

30-50g of soft plastic is much different from +600g of rigid carbon. Please, please, please, if you see something, say something, in the comments or wherever. If you get crap for it, let me know and I'll back you up. This isnt a call for brigading people at all, dont do that, but I know it can be difficult feeling like the only one standing up to dangerous things/people.

No one is coming to save us from actually dangerous pilots ruining it for everyone, we have to do it ourselves or just get banned. Out of many creators I paid/messaged about this diyfpv and Botgrinder are the only ones that cared enough to address it. I dont know if thats why he made this video, but it sucks seeing so many other people that are looked to as "leaders" ignore this kind of thing.
