just had a look the only thing is that theres not intenna hole and the front and back gromit things dont have that gap for them to slide in

Mediocre Nerd happened to post a video this morning with real world testing that covered several current discussions here from printing frames to walksnail. thought it might be useful to some. it was pretty encouraging seeing his frame testing and even though its still 2x the weight of carbon, we are absolutely getting closer to viable designs/materials for certain sizes of printed frames!!

Hello there.

After some time exploring 3D printing for 5" dron, I got sidequested to Li-Ion territory and now I have fully 3D printed 3" "freestyle" 3S Li-Ion drone. It's prototype to test viability but first flight was promissing. It has custom designed battery holder for easy load/unload without risk of shorting up contacts, with XT30 as "turn on switch". It's not under 250g tho (around 300 with batteries), but agile and fun. Will do more testing and refinement and if anyone will be interested, I can later share some STLs.

a1 mini is perfect for fpv stuff, youre gonna love it! I have 3 for rapid prototyping lol. make sure to really dry out the tpu, I dry mine for like 6-8 hours if its new or been stored for a while. also, the Bambu studio filament presets are good for some filaments, but tpu is not one of them.

Well hello again! The electronics are ordered, but they're my christmas present. I will probably post a few weeks after christmas and share my test results. In the moment I'm working on the frame v1.1, because v1.0 had minor errors in the frame design.

Hopefully I can convince @AurilFPV that 3d printed frames are good :)

They can be to a certain degree. It depends on your flying style. I would not send it like crazy in bando doing freestyle tricks. Good luck on your project!

Thanks! My goal is that it flies good and if something breakes its easy to replace. The name Bando Panda is actually just because i had no ideas for the name 😂 It would be pretty cool though if it survives bandos

I made another (3d printed) drone frame!

It's a 3.5 quad, printed out of cf-filament and panda themed :). It should be pretty good (no extreme vibrations), but I sadly can't test it. I don't have the electronics and won't get them soon :(

This is very impressive in terms of design abilities! However, this style frame wont work as a 3d print, even with cf filament. Temps, impacts, g-forces, vibrations, etc. will all break it apart, no matter how solid you think it is right now. The physics of this style frame rely on high quality, rigid carbon fibre, no consumer level 3d printer/filament is there yet. So the geometry/design has to make up for the weaknesses of the filaments. Check out the Aether frame if you want to see more of what I'm talking about.

People are going to be hesitant to drop $100s of electronics into an unproven, 3d printed frame that the designer hasn't even tested yet. But dont be too discouraged. This hobby is all about innovation and design! Keep working and refining until you can get some stuff to test your designs with and show people they wont be blindly gambling $100s if they want to try them.
