For context this is about my vapor x5 again, I have asked before for help. My nuts keeping on my props keep on unscrewing themselves, I thightend them with pliers and all nothing worked. Now I was told I needed cw and ccw nuts, but the ccw nuts won’t screw on and all self thighting cw m5 nuts I used come lose and it’s always on the same 2 props, for context the drone uses inwards rotating props and my back right and front left nuts will not stay on! Please help me, I have no idea what else to do.
thx in advance
Can you send me a picture of them? Also, are they new?
Do they have the nylock part on one side?
I read the question again and now I understand. I've never really heard of anyone having this problem before so that indicates bad nuts to me.
The first ones look fine, but I would just order some new ones. They're pretty cheap
Idk if it would help to get more of the shaft through the nut or not, but they do make low profile prop nuts. They have the locking nylon ring like most others but they are a little shorter and would allow more of the shaft to come through the tops. Also if possible you can tighten them with an 8mm wrench or socket and ratchet. I’ve never heard someone having such trouble. I hope this time you find a permanent solution. If they just will not stay and all other options do not work. Red lock tight and tighten them down really tight will for sure stop it. But it will be tough getting them off. Sorry you’re having such trouble. Maybe some one has a better idea?
I'm pretty sure lock tight dissolves props and makes them explode midair. Bardwell warns about it pretty often.
@Lyghtz can you post some pics of props and motors, and props on motors with nuts screwed as much as you can.
This is unusual. Some pictures might help
Nooooo, locktight dissolves the props or something and they explode midair. Joshua Bardwell has mentioned it multiple times.
Don’t use it on anything that touches the props. You should use it on the motor screws though that attach the motor to the frame. Locktite blue.
You have to tighten them A LOT more than you feel like you should initially. Use a socket, not your fingers.also check to make sure all the other pre installed screws from the factory are all the way in and not causing loads of extra vibrations. It seems geprc has this issue often, I’ve seen it myself often. Once it’s all more properly tightened up though, they always fly super nice for me though :)
Hey. When i built my quad i noticed, the direction to tighten the nuts is different on two of my motors. So I mounted the motors in a way, so the direction to tighten the nut ist opposite to the direction the prop spins. I imagine the nut could get loose if it was mounted the other way. I hope this helps.
Try new props.
The motors have small nubs that press into the props when tightened. If the props are overtightened, the material is pressed out of the props, small grooves form and the nubs can no longer hold them in place.
These are all I currently have
