Been flying simulators for 7-8 years. On and off. Bought an avata 2 in April 2024 with the remote controller. One refresh so far. Looking to build a smaller drone based on the air unit 04 “lite”.

First flight with my Avionrc nexa evo pro 3.5.

Had a short flight around my house first just to test if everything was working, adjusted the OSD.

So much more power than my meteor 75…

Only flew 1s drones and the avata 2 before.

brought my avata 2 to a xc mountainbike competition. I was the medical staff.

asked if it was ok if I flew a bit filming the riders.

suddenly I was their drone guy who live streamed parts of it.

i love the head tracing on the avata 2 for this. I just wished it could work with the real controller…

I would get a radiomaster pocket instead. Then I could also fly with it irl later.

I ordered the baby turtle v7 frame. Not realizing I should have ordered the 6.1 hd to fit the O4 lite.

but maybe it was meant to be. It probably wouldn’t have fit the flywoo wide angle adapter.

so I will try this instead. I just have to put longer battery wires in the fc. Push the battery back a bit on top to balance the lens.

as shown it is a bit front heavy. And the camera isn’t even in place…

I was thinking more for cinematic flying.
The only downside would be you have to mind the height of the drone. But imagine the kind of video you could get chasing cars and motorbikes if you didn’t have to have the front of the drone pointed towards the subject.
I can easily imagine having multiple small pip on the top , bottom and sides of the screens in the goggles for awareness. Customizable.

360 air unit.

wouldnt it be cool if DJI release a 360 air unit. The camera from the 360. Let us controll a virtual camera. Switch the angle and fov on demand. Maybe even split it up to have a pip looking down, backwards etc

@Don_Cannelloni i am waiting for the flywoo wide angle lens adapter for the O4 lite. Will put it first on my 3” 1s toothpick. Hope that makes the fov better

I read that also somewhere. But I don’t get it. My drones have it still there. I just don’t use the signal in betaflight and let the ELRS do the controlling

@GanDad Oh, trees are fun to play with. The closer the better.

Nice flying.
My small tip to get more comfortable is to fly low. Really low. Try to real lick the ground. Take banked turns around things like that. Yaw spins. Orbits. Avoid going high. Try to stay below 1m.
It really forces you to controll the throttle. And it feels really cool to skim along the ground, everything seems faster.
You will crash more, but not with any speed. It probably won’t damage the drone and usually you can just turtle if the grass is short.

Height is way more dangerous. Trees to get stuck in and harder drops when you hit the ground.

However you do it, everyday you fly you will notice you have a little more controll. That’s a cool feeling.

Looks cool in the air. Have to add clear props to the front, they are in view. Yellow back, so it is easier to find in the grass.
Also, the leds doesn’t impact the flight time in any noticable way. Got over 4 min on a 550 mAh battery. Was 3,75 v when i put it in the charger. 3,5 in flight when I landed. So maybe 4,5 up to 5 minutes if I don’t fly too aggresively.

Just i small tip I want to share.

I just found out that while tying flys for fishing they use different uv resin glues.

went to my local fishing shop and found a clear flexible glue with gel consistency.

I used it for locking things down on my 3” 1s toothpick I just built. Works absolutely great. Instant curing. Easy to put an exact and small amount. Cures to a stiff but flexible rubber.

Because it’s for fishing it is water safe.

Added four small LEDstrips to the arms of the Babytooth frame. Don’t know yet how much it will impact the flight time. If it is noticeable.

Check the fov and fisheye.
If I fly with to narrow fov on the simulator then I get sick. Also with too much fisheye effect.
Never felt it while flying for real though. But I saw some dude flying a drone while riding in a bumpy motorboat… I would get so sick.

Yeah. Right now.
Give it a few months and this will be Sweden

Nice! I have been eyeing the first version. But it’s so much money to get them to Sweden. Close to 1000 usd with shipping and VAT.
I love my goggles 3 (except the locked system and no hdmi in).

Thanks man!
I’m just a beginner who have dreamt about being able to fly my whole life… and now I feel like I can.

I use epidemic sound and by chance found this Swedish group called Bomull (cotton in Swedish) that I really like.

Some Quick flying after work. Love trees. But the tall grass for me a few times.

You always get down, one way or another.

The avata 2 autolands in sport and normal mode. So i used to put it in this modes before landing. Not anymore though.
Even now I sometimes switch to angle mode on the meteor before landing if i feel the landing is a bit tricky.

But i mostly disarm on the first bounce…
