Partially, but I'm not married to them. They are just the best, and I knew the ban on new dji products was incoming, so I got the goggles and stocked up. I have been wanting to try out Walksnail Avatar though, but I know it's going to be a tier below what I already have. It's still A tier, but not S like O4.

I would look at it this way, DJI is great, but going with the box pro goggles from HDZero, you get 1) HDZeros system, 2) Analoge, 3) high quality input for additional vrx systems you want to try. With DJI, you just get in the DJI ecosystem. Sure n3s are not as much, but you get more bang for your buck in terms of versatility with HDZero.

Tough question. I'd say go with Hdzero if you can find them and look into a walksnail vrx. I say this a someone who will probably keep flying DJI and getting their gear, even after the "EOL". Bardwell mentioned this in his stream yesterday, the HDZeros offer such good input, that the lag from using hdmi in is a non-issue. At some point, I will get a walksnail avatar goggle, and dabble in that ecosystem too.

Newest build. I may have goofed up on the perfectness of the solder job on the esc and motor pads, but I am satisfied with the end product 😁!

Frame: TJRC-FJ5. See my previous post about my main concerns. But other than that, it is pretty sturdy and if it breaks, it breaks. I'll just have to replace the arms with the extra in the box. 😭

Motors: Axisflying 2207 1860kv

FC+ESC stack: Sologood F722 60a esc

Video: DJI O4 pro air unit with Foxeer 4+ 10cm Lollipop antennas

Receiver: Radiomaster RP3 diversity 2.4Ghz

GPS: Microair M10g gps with SCD and SCL.

Betaflight Release: I flashed 2025.12.5. I added position hold and altitude hold on the flash options.

Presets: UAVtech 5' (no go pro). Elrs150hz

Thanks. I'm a little sad that it plastic. I'm probably not going to build it out the way I wanted to. I haven't dealt with plastic drones in over a decade, outside of dji ones.

Hey y'all!

Does anyone have recent experience with a 5 inch fpv frame with plastic arms? Like any recent builds?

I'm curious if I made a good decision lol. I bought this frame from Ali, yes impulse buy, just to check it out. Just arrived and to my disappointment, the arms are injection molded plastic I think. To the credit of tjrc, they gave extra arms in the box. I'm going to build it out, but I'm cautious of vibrations and yes crashing. But this won't be a beater quad now that I see it has non carbon arms.

@BlaqkstarFPV Yeah, especially when it comes to their internal resistance. It's a hard metric to track on the smaller packs. I usually go by their voltage sag when in flight. If I see it doesn't perform like it used to, they go straight to the barbecue.

Thank you for sharing this. It's really important to keep an eye on these little energetic packs! I follow the methodology that no matter what I do, no storage system is fully fireproof. I keep a fire extinguisher near by and know all of my ammo can storage boxes lined with welders blankets, and lipo bags and other mitigation practices are only there to keep an incident contained, not stopped. It is important to have a safety plan in place. I'm glad Kraken is safe. You can replace things, you can't replace a life.

Do it! But you need to consider the motor KV when it comes to 6s and the propeller size. I'm not mechanical/electrical engineer, but I think 2306 are more efficient. This also depends on the prop size and kv. For a 5 inch, 2306 is a big motor and one at a low enough kv would give you a more cruise type craft with lots of torque. Higher would give you more thrust. I like running 2306 1700kv on my 5 inch drones, and 2306 1500kv on my 6 inch ones.

Here's a video of him taking my Volador VX3.5 out. We had trouble binding his transmitter to it so he had to use mine. I'd say for not being comfortable with someone else's set up, he was pretty comfortable lol

Ignore the mess, and don't look to hard at the positive connection lol. I'm proud of being able to knock so much of my replacement volador so quickly today. Hopefully it will have a better life than it's older sibling. Only thing left to do is salvage a o4 pro from another frame and set up
