Do Drone Pilots Prefer Self-Centering or Non-Springloaded Throttle?
Hi guys,
So I have this old Futaba T6EX FASST 2.4GHz transmitter that has a vertically stepped non-springloaded throttle on the right hand side. I was wondering whether drone pilots use a self-centering throttle or have a non-springloaded throttle as well?

Non spring loaded throttle, but Futaba is very old and you will want to get a express LRS radio instead

Is there a big advantage, aside from broad adoption, to take ELRS over FASST? Does it have better range/signal integrity? I'd prefer to stick with this for the time being to be honest. I already found a FASST receiver that outputs to SBUS for 30 bucks, maybe upgrading to ELRS if the hobby sticks.
Edit: to clarify: I know modern stuff is probably better, but I wanna maybe see if this hobby sticks before I full send it with new hardware etc

well maybe for a non-fullsend Fasst could better, but ELRS is dirt cheap, low latency and very, very long range

Think throttle on the right is Mode 1 style. You can use it as a mode 1, or possibly change it to a mode 2 by swapping the sticks. I use mode 2, as do most fpv pilots. For sure not self centering. BUT, get a new radio. A RM Pocket ELRS is like $80 with batteries, which is categorically cheap. But it's great. Boxer if you need more switches, TX16 if that wasn't enough. But then we are getting pretty pricey.

If it doesn't stick you can always resell the Pocker or Boxer and get most of your money back. No body wants that old Futaba except some old guy that hates flight controllers and flies planes line of sight. HAHA just joking, settle down old man!

It's hard to say go for it, or don't, as i do t have experience with fast protocol. It's probably more than fine. But can it fit on a whoop? I have 2 air65 whoops with old frsky xm+ receivers because i already had them and i didn't want a new module... my 150mw frsky keeps up with a 400mw whoop, and they're still 18grams dry.
