Best Practices for Storing Drone Batteries in Winter?
I’ll be using my batteries less during the coming winter. Should I store them in a metal container? When a battery isn’t being used for a long time — and is, of course, at the right storage voltage — what are the risks of it bursting into flames?

Effectively zero risk if they are just sitting at storage voltage. If they are going to burst into flames it almost always happens when charging, right after they are physically damaged, or if they are somehow shorted.
Personally I keep all mine in lipo bags that sit in an unused fireplace.

I have a small metal ammo box and a couple of lipo bags for safe battery⚡storage/charging. ⚡Right now I have two dud batteries sitting in a salt and water solution to completely discharge to zero voltage for safe disposal. ⚡Batteries are still a bit of a mystery to me but I know that they can be very dangerous if mishandled etc. I have four new batteries arriving soon and I will be testing them brand new out of the box uncharged to check their condition. I am very curious as to what I will discover. All part of the journey. *** Learning

@jfpoulin It was a storage option that was recommended to me. It was cheap as well, less than 20 Koala 'freedum' dollars from a camping supply store. Very strong solid metal, the lid has a rubber waterproof seal and the lid comes off/on completely and easily. I'm still trying to understand the internal resistance issues that causes battery sag and how to test and read the results. I fell out of the sky once - noob not watching OSD battery levels rapidly drain. All part of the process. So much to learn and I'm just happily plodding along.
*** EDIT *** Gas Pressure Vents - Drill a couple of small-to-medium holes in a safe, strategic location, such as the top or side near the latch.
