The Bambu Lab A1 Mini – The 3D Printer Every Home Should Have
Get a 3D printer. Seriously. It’s never been easier, simpler, or less hassle to get into the hobby — and the Bambu Lab A1 Mini is the proof.
If you’ve been sitting on the fence about 3D printing — wondering if it’s finally time to jump in — this is your wake-up call. The Bambu Lab A1 Mini completely blew me away, and I honestly think almost every household should have one of these things sitting on a desk somewhere.
Why the Bambu A1 Mini Is a Game-Changer
I’ve been 3D printing for years. I’ve owned $1,000+ machines, and I’ve spent more hours than I’d like to admit adjusting bed levels, cleaning nozzles, and dealing with all sorts of calibration nonsense. Those days are over.
The A1 Mini costs around $220 USD, and it’s so idiot-proof that anyone can use it — even my five-year-old has been printing her own toys. You just open the Bambu app on your phone, pick a model, and hit print. That’s it. The printer automatically levels the bed, cleans the nozzle, and gets everything ready for you.
No tape. No glue. No spatulas. Just print and go. When it’s done, the magnetic build plate flexes, and your model pops right off. It’s genuinely that easy.
Effortless Tech and Smart Features
For the price, the amount of technology packed into this thing is insane.
Automatic bed leveling — no more paper-shim guessing games.
Self-cleaning nozzle — it even has a little cleaner that wipes the tip automatically.
Built-in camera — you can check your print from your phone or even record time-lapses (though I’ll be honest, the time-lapse feature adds a lot of print time and can leave extra strings).
Wi-Fi control — send your models wirelessly and manage everything from the app.
It’s plug-and-play, and for once that’s not marketing hype — it genuinely works out of the box.
Real Prints, Real Results
Since the day it arrived, I’ve been printing non-stop. Board game figurines, FPV mounts, wall clips for my planes and wings — it’s been awesome.
most prints comes out clean and accurate, with no fiddling required. It’s the kind of printer that actually gets used, not one that sits collecting dust because you can’t be bothered to recalibrate it every time.
A Few Minor Drawbacks
Nothing’s perfect, very fine details are difficult and no match for a resin printer.
It’s a little noisy during calibration.
The time-lapse mode looks cool but slows everything down and can leave fine stringing.
And if you’re like me, beware of those tiny plastic blobs the nozzle spits out during cleaning — they somehow end up everywhere (sorry to my wife).
There are also upgrade options like multi-material feeders if you want to expand later, but even the base model does everything most people will ever need.
Store Your Filament Properly!
One quick tip: keep your filament dry. I’m using airlock vacuum bags (also from Phaser FPV) with a little hand pump to keep moisture out. It’s a small thing that makes a big difference to print quality — and yes, those same airlock bags also keep my Central Coast Coffee beans fresh too!
The Verdict: A No-Brainer Buy
The Bambu Lab A1 Mini is hands-down the best value 3D printer I’ve ever used. It’s fast, reliable, and most importantly — fun.
At around $220, this is the 3D printer that finally makes sense for everyone. Whether you’re printing drone parts, toys for your kids, or custom mounts for your FPV gear, the A1 Mini delivers pro-quality results with zero fuss.
If you’ve ever thought, “Maybe I’ll get a 3D printer one day,” — this is the one. That “one day” is today.
I bought mine from Phaser FPV, a great Aussie FPV shop that supports the community. Check them out
Final Thoughts
This isn’t a sponsored post — I bought this printer with my own money because I genuinely believe in it. I wanted to spread the word that 3D printing has finally reached the point where anyone can do it.
If you’ve got 3D printing tips or ideas for cool FPV parts to make, drop a comment below or share them on DIYFPV — I’d love to see what you’re creating.
Happy 3D printing!
