Re: Australia
Hey everyone,
My understanding of CASA rules for unmanned aircraft remote controlled or flying waypoint:
Must be flown LOS and observed by flyer with their own eyes.
So my understanding is that FPV is illegal. With exceptions for clubs and case-by-case or specifically approved flights (like periodic fence inspections).
So how are fliers on YouTube and elsewhere located in Australia flying with goggles occluding their direct vision of the aircraft?
Also: would an onbaord-'AI' controlled aircraft be classified as an unmanned aircraft, manned aircraft, or is its own thing?
Further: what are the actual penalties both de jure and de facto for flying with goggles on (if it is illegal)?
Thanks.
