What i did was got the lite radio 2 se and then gave it away to get a friend into the hobby and upgraded to to tx15 max when it was in budget for me to buy. Have been happy with what i did.

Also check if in beta flight you have the number of magnets on the motor bell set correctly as i had severe jitters on a whoop build because i had it set wrong and assume it could cause more severe issues aswell.

I wouldnt say so but it depends what you value. If you want to just get straight in the air then sure go for it but tou wont have the best experience. Id say for that money just buy a radiomaster pocket and liftoff simulator or whatever you see fits your fly style.
Ex: velocidrone/DRL for racing
liftoff/uncrashed/tryp for freestyle

For dji o4 you adjust settings through goggles when bound to air unit.

I dont belive the betaflight vtx tab affects anything with the DJI o4

Idk if this might be your issue but I fly walksnail and i suspect that some elements arnt compatible with hd osd with is what o4 pro uses, and its just a osd element compatibility problem for hd vtx's in betaflight. I have no clue how to fix this and just use the elements that work and deal with it. I find most of them worck though just not the ones that require telem from VTX/Goggles for some reason for me and some other stand out ones.

Personaly if i were to build a o4 freestyle drone id go with the o4 x shape mario 5 over the manta as it is more popular / more talked about and has good things said about it.

Both easy to build in frames I belive but the manta will give you more space if that matters.

Dead cat will work fairly well for freestyle and true x will work great for cinematic "not perfect but very flyable" so go with whatever your more interested in. If you want something between squished x is great.

If you want to do cinematic both are a great choise but for more intense freestyle id look for a true x or squished x frame from a popular company. A dead cat frame like these won't handle the best for freestyle.

Maybe turn down output power as my suspicion is that its overheating possibly and shutting down because of that.

1. Check to make sure your motor screws dont touch the motor windings.
2. Check that none of the motor wires are bridged together. If your using the plug check on the other side of the aio where the plugs are soldered to make sure nothing is bridged and everything is conected well.
3. Make sure ground isnt bridged with power anywhere with a multimeter just touch the two battery pads on continuity mode make sure for no beeps ,if you have a capacitor soldered it might beep for a split second then stop thats normal its just it charging up. Also make sure the motor wires do beep try all the combinations on the motors and make sure they beep because the plugs im suspecting your using could be not having good contact on the motors not working.

Also there is no way to solder your motors backwards as they are brushless motors where you can just change the directions in betaflight or whatever FC software being used.
