Father and son learning this amazing sport and hobby. 25+ years of RC aircraft. Drone pilot from WAY back. Vortex 285 was the first FPV I ever flew. Time for the son to get into it too!

Used to. Way back in the day. I still have a whiplash 700 but I haven’t flown it in a decade! The skill required for a machine like that directly relates to FPV drones. Took me about 10 minutes in the sim and I was tossing FPV easily.

Can’t you just go fly somewhere that doesn’t bother people? Canada has strict regs too but it’s treated more like a window tint ticket. They don’t care until you do something stupid, then you’re screwed.

I have no idea what that is. I’m new to all this stuff. I literally plugged it in and it flys. So that’s good! Manual mode but that’s fine with me. If I want it to stabilize I’d fly a DJI.

Edit: had to look it up. I think it’s cleanfly but it was set up 12 years ago. I had no memory of it. We will see how it does this weekend! I’ll get video

I have a dx6i as well. Old JR radios.. hell I just tossed a bunch of my old nitro plane stuff that was crystal radios! I could have started a museum. None of it could fly though. This vortex is in new in box condition. I can’t wait to abuse it!!

I haven't flown since this thing was new on store shelves!! I never did get too interested in it back in the day. Airplanes and helicopters took up my time. I just plugged everything in and I couldn’t believe it still works! Everything turned on… forgot how to arm the thing for a second then promptly tossed it into a wall when it accidentally armed! I figured it out again… hopefully all the batteries are still good! I’m flying it this weekend!!
