5 Inch FPV Frame with Plastic Arms: Is It a Good Choice?
Hey y'all!
Does anyone have recent experience with a 5 inch fpv frame with plastic arms? Like any recent builds?
I'm curious if I made a good decision lol. I bought this frame from Ali, yes impulse buy, just to check it out. Just arrived and to my disappointment, the arms are injection molded plastic I think. To the credit of tjrc, they gave extra arms in the box. I'm going to build it out, but I'm cautious of vibrations and yes crashing. But this won't be a beater quad now that I see it has non carbon arms.

My frame from aliexpress used injection molded plastic for the landing feet, gopro mount and antenna mount and all of the pieces broke. From my experience injection molded plastic is pretty weak so i don't think it will be a very durable quad.

Injection molded plastic parts are usually stronger than 3d printed ones but dont expect a hardcore freestyle drone. it will be able to cruise around and do light freestyle to a certain degree. I started my journey into FPV with 3d printed drones but switched to carbon fiber because of the obvious weak material. Also don't expect to just flash Betaflight and use standard BF PIDs to work well. I would slowly tune it from a master multiplier at 0.4 and creep my way up until you hit the ceiling. It can definitely be alot of fun if tuned well. Good luck!

Thanks. I'm a little sad that it plastic. I'm probably not going to build it out the way I wanted to. I haven't dealt with plastic drones in over a decade, outside of dji ones.
