Can I Solder My CADDX Ant Camera Connector?
I ordered a new CADDX ant camera and it came with a 3 pin just connector, but to get it into my drone I will need to change that to an SH1.0 connector. I am pretty confident in splicing wires with a soldering iron, would it work if I took half of the old wire and combined it with most of the new one? Would it be an issue if the solder joins are touching (I only have pretty big heat shrink so I’d be putting all 3 wires under 1 piece of heat shrink.

This post would be a great fit for the troubleshoot section of the page as posting it here dooms it to the inevitable burial among other posts. That being said, this approach is no-bueno. It is super important to properly insulate the wires and each should have it's own heat shrink. If the wires touch, it could prove deadly to the FC, camera or both.

@Liquideath Is electrical tape good for each individual wire and then I'll put some heatshrink on the whole thing?

@plsdontcrash It could work as a temporary fix, but I’d strongly recommend getting proper heat shrink tubing and re-insulating the wires as soon as possible. In this case, using a larger heat shrink over the wrapped wires is essential to ensure the tape stays secure and doesn’t unroll.

Also, make sure that the wires are properly soldered. I'd suggest getting some soldering flux to help the solder adhere. Solder itself contains some flux, but that quickly evaporates and from my experience, that could happen quicker than you can properly solder the wires. Make sure to put the heat shrinks on the wires before soldering the wires together. It's emberrasing to admit that I've made this mistake more than once :). Good luck with your build! You could but you won't mess it up if you've soldered before. I wouldn't go with electric tape. Apart from being fiddly and prob putting stress on things when handling it you're safer to wait for correct heat shrink. It's a pain but it's not worth the risk

@plsdontcrash you'll get a load on Banggood or AliExpress. I think Suleve are one of the reliable manufacturers. I got a mixed lot yrs ago and I've been slowly working way through it
