Understanding OpenVTX and Its Relationship with HDZero and Others

Can someone explain the relationship of openvtx to HDzero, Walksnail, DJI, Fat Shark? Do the analog cameras have protocols that are not shareable between the different vendors? If a drone does not list a vendor such as HDzero does that mean that the camera is analog and will work with any analog goggle?
