i got this controller as I'm just stepping into fpv and didn't have one. i got the black version, and it's pretty nice. the only complaint that doesn't bother me too much would be the weight, but I'm not sure if all full-size controllers like the boxer weigh this much, so i can't really say anything about that, since, like i said, this is my first controller.
I started with a RM pocket which was an excellent starter radio and decided it was a little on the small side. Decided to get the Boxer Max after some research and couldn't be happier. The AG01 gimbals feel so precise compared to the pocket and the anodized buttons and knows have a premium feel. I do wish the antenna folded for transport but that is my only gripe. This is a premium feeling radio and is a big step up from the pocket. I highly recommend it..
From going to a Taranis Qx7 to a TX16s Mk II, I could never really feel comfortable with the size of bulkiness of it. Got a brilliant steal off MantisFPV, after flying in the simulator to get my tuning right, it's a match made in heaven. Quality is brilliant, the screen is reminiscent of the QX7 and the AG01 Gimbals feel fantastic. Only ONLY gripe is no foldable antenna, but I recommend all variations of the Radiomaster Boxer!!
The RadioMaster Boxer Max (Gold version) feels like a serious piece of gear. The build quality is excellent, with solid gimbals, good weight, and a premium finish that immediately inspires confidence. Ergonomics are spot on — comfortable for long sessions without fatigue.
Performance-wise, it’s rock solid with ELRS, reliable link, low latency, and no surprises. Battery life is really strong, and the screen and controls are clear and responsive. It’s not flashy, it’s dependable — the kind of radio you buy once and keep for years.
Easily one of the best radios I’ve used, I got the gold version, and just adds that extra touch without being over the top.
