Struggling with Orbits: Tips for Maintaining Distance

Found another park, don't think i'll frequent this one early in the morning... i think there was a homeless person perhaps sleeping in the picnic area down the end... don't want to disturb their sleep with a whiny quad noise.

I struggle with orbits, trying to stay a fixed distance from an object while circling it.. i tend to have to aim off to the side, rather than at it, and i end up getting closer and closer unless i zoom past it and turn back into it again. What am i doing wrong?
