Hello all,

Complete noob here with a weird story on how i ended up on this wonderfull website.

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Tim. I'm 37 yrs young xD . I work in the audiovisual industry mostly videoconferencing / ledwalls / videowalls etc.

I started the hobby of beekeeping a while ago and this year i am having a hard time with the Asian hornets around my nest.

I started looking for a solution to be able to find the nests, and i started looking into drones and what would be the best way to follow the workers to take out the nests.

After some hours on youtube i stumbled on UAVFutures who has been very helpfull with an amazing library of information.

I used to build custom electric mountainboards and skateboards with motors / ESC / 18650 cells etc so the more i was looking into custom FPV and DIY the more this side of drones was starting to tickly my interest.

SO what started as : i might buy a DJI drone to find those hornet nest will probably result in me building some custom FPV's and also dabble in racing and freestyle because WHY NOT it looks hella fun.

In my dreams i would mount a flamethrower on my own drone and handle it that way but i'm guessing the drone regulations alone in belgium would stop me before i could even think of mounting an arm to it xD .

But to get things back on topic, i'm thinking of buying myself a T15 max as a radio so i can get some hours into the sims. Using DRL Sim atm. This model does seems to be on preorder everywhere so haven't bought it yet.

I'm still doubting which goggles to get. Those DJI goggles 3 looks nice but i see so many opinions on these analog/digital goggles that it's hard to make a choice if the pricetag is 600 euros give or take for a good one. The way i understand it is that the goggles will determine which transimtter for video to put on the FPV. So this is an important step? I prefer to buy a good remote and googles from the getgo than to keep buying a "better" one.

As for the first FPV, no clue what to pick. Feel free to drop me some clues or hints on what might be a good first choice. Idealy a nice all round would be a perfect choice. that way i can practice and hopefully find a few nests once i'm rdy to handle the drone. the race and freestyle will follow once i get more comfortable flying :) .

Thanks for reading my little story. I hope to share some nice stories in the future :) . And don't be shy to drop me some tips or hints.

Tim

Let's take flight together and elevate the world of FPV drones to new heights.
