0Originally from South Africa, I moved to College Station, Texas, in 2015 for college at Texas A&M University. I am a tinkerer in pretty much everything I do, so naturally, fpv appeals to me. I really enjoy my analog 533 Tiny Trainer V2 right now, but often fly DJI 04 cinewhoops for my drone business. I have flown all the main video systems (DJI, Analog, HDzero, and Walksnail), and yet I still pick up my analog TT and whoops more than anything

This is a good option, but just about any ELRS 2.4 RX will work
Others have given some good advice already about the smell-check.
I think the battery is probably ok, but make sure to charge it in a safe place always.
I recommend staying away from wood, curtains, walls, etc.
Maybe in a garage on concrete or somewhere similar would be a good place to charge. Even if the battery looks and smells ok its possible it could still catch fire if the damage is there but too small to notice.

I can give you a few troubleshooting steps to try:
In the Reviever tab, check if your throttle is actually at a near 1000 value (typical range is 1000-2000).
I believe the default is a max of 1050 or less to allow arming.
If the value is near but not below 1050, you may need to recalibrate your controller so that when your stick is physically at 0 throttle, the value in betaflight is about 1000. This video shows the calibration process at the 2-minute mark (make sure to gently move the sticks to each side. If your value is around 1500 its likely your channel mapping is incorrect, and Betaflight is thinking your yaw, roll, or pitch is throttle. Try adjusting the "Channel map" options on the right.
I'd guess the issue is one of the above. Let me know if any of that works
